The James Webb Space Telescope has discovered many small, red-colored objects in the early universe, dubbed “little red dots,” which may be galaxies with rapidly growing supermassive black holes. These dots are found to be particularly abundant in the early universe and show evidence of gas rapidly orbiting around their centers, a sign of an accretion disk around a black hole.

NASA has documented several types of red-hued celestial and atmospheric objects. These include the “little red dots” (LRDs) observed by the James Webb Space Telescope in the early universe, which are thought to be galaxies containing black holes. In Earth’s atmosphere, red sprites, a type of transient luminous event (TLE), are also observed during thunderstorms. Additionally, NASA has observed the “Red Ribbon” nebula, a supernova remnant, and captured images of the Red Rectangle nebula
